We love that this gem is nestled right up the road from where we live and will continue to visit and highly recommend this place to our friend and other family who like to camp.River’s Edge Lodge and Outfitters is where Up North adventures start! Conveniently located between Mercer and Manitowish Waters, the lodge sits on the banks of the Manitowish River, directly on the paved multi-use bike trail and snowmobile/ATV trail, making it the perfect launch point for bicycle touring, paddling the river and waterways, or enjoying snow sports. We are not hard core campers but go when we can. This was hands down the best campground we have ever been to so far. We probably spent a couple hundred extra inside the campground just our family which I'm more than fine with for the absolute amazing time we had. Much of the camp store is pretty spendy but the snack stand prices were pretty normal vacation type prices, slightly high on some stuff, but I get they have to make $ too. Another idea would be to send out a coupon for next summer for a discount off a rental or something like that. Just felt like this was a lot and would have been more reasonable at say $100 or perhaps give a discount after two days or something. I think this was $175 for the 3 days we were there. If I had one constructive criticism it would probably be the golf cart rental seemed overpriced, but this may be due to the carts being leased out to the camp and the camp just trying to make something on the deal. ![]() We also rented a golf cart which I highly recommend as it can be a long walk to and from activities. I think we paid $300 per family to camp for 3 nights which seemed fair considering all that is included. This was fun to watch and that night the bar and grill had live music and fireworks. We happened to be camping on the Sat when there were jet boat races on the river. Fun smaller things to do for the kids - firetruck ride, play areas, laser tag, basketball, train ride, camp store to visit, arcade, movie night, etc. Besides a great campground and overall amazing experience camping with the family - highlights for us included the huge swimming pond with an awesome inflatable slide and obstacle course, foam party on the beach area at the pond, snack stand had lots of great items, pool was great and super clean. The staff is very friendly and were helpful from the time we booked til we left. Most sites are full hook up so that's great. We were on sites 19-21 so kinda back of the grounds but close to the river side and the pond. Some of the sites had in ground sprinklers and lawns to mow! Awesome. Most people who do this really care about their sites and it shows and it's fun to see all the neat things people do to spruce up a camper and site. Lot's of very nice campers with decks and sheds added on. This campground is amazing! There are like 250 or so sites - many which are semi - permanent. There was something for all of us to do the entire time. We had a total 14 people - 8 kids ranging from ages 1-19 and 4 adults. We are local and see this campground often as it sits on the side of the interstate on the Wisconsin River but we have never been. ![]() More Show lessĮvery so often you have such a great experience and so much fun that you don't really know where to start. ![]() It seems to be just a money maker for the owners with no pride taken on any amenities for the guests. And the staff working were dumbfounded I came in to complain. I went to the office and complained that I paid $170 just to have to pay for a crappy shower too. There was no sign to tell you this, so you can get all ready to shower and find there were no knobs for water, but only a rusty box to insert quarters. The bathrooms were horrible! Plus if you wanted to take a shower, it cost you 25 cents for 5 minutes of unadjustable temperature, water. The sites were primarily sand, which of course, gets into everything. There were many "residents" with their permanent sites and cliques which made us feel like outsiders in a land where we didn't belong. But I thought it might be worth it because of the water inflatables for the kids and scenic/nature view. My tent site was about $170 for the two nights. My family and I stayed over the weekend at two different sites.
